Protect My Public Media

As residents of the greater Washington DMV, we have had front row seats to the fast-moving juggernaut that is the second Trump Administration. It doesn’t matter if you embrace or resist the many changes to the federal structure, there is no denying that our community will be impacted by them.

In the days since the election was decided, WAMU has been focused on our mission to bring the region fair, factual, and nuanced programming. Our newsroom is reporting the many ways in which the federal government connects to our community, and how its policies will impact the region. We’re proud of our newsroom's commitment to reporting the truth.

And because we know how important the moments of comfort, joy, and humor are that unite us, Hot Jazz Saturday Night and The Big Broadcast anchor our weekends.

This is not new for WAMU. Since our first broadcast in 1961, we have been a trusted voice, connecting Washingtonians to each other and the world with informative and engaging news and entertaining programs. We’ve been here with you for all the milestones, laughter, and tears, as a member of this community.

WAMU’s independence forms the foundation of our ability to provide you with this service – and that independence is under threat. If there was ever a time when you needed to be proud and loud in support of WAMU and public media, this is it.
